The default fund is used when we can’t find the appropriate fund in the fund mappings section. If a default fund is specified, we’ll use this one. If it’s not specified, we’ll skip the donation and output it to the error file.
If you have a bunch of one-off funds from your old system you’re looking to consolidate. Not mapping them, and specifying a default fund could be a good option for you.
